Web and Computer Services: A Bit More Complicated

A closer look at Web and Computer Services
Listen to some people and read a well crafted sales letter about web services and computer services, and you could come to the conclusion that making it BIG on the World Wide Web is a piece of cake. There's nothing to it! Right? WRONG. Having the right web and computer services for your business and getting noticed on the Internet for an existing business or breaking into it afresh is complicated, especially for the non-techie crowd. Yet today, web and computer services are essential parts of conducting business...having a virtual storefront that is...one that gets traffic.
There are a lot of moving pieces to this puzzle such as:
- Domain Names
- Web Design
- Web Hosting
- Internet Promotion
- Technical Support
And each one of these areas has their own special parts, too. For example, within Internet Promotion there are a bunch of different methods for generating traffic. Are you going the paid route or free? Is social media like Twitter and Facebook where you need to be with your particular product or service? Those are just two questions within that one area. Some businesses want their web services to involve taking them to new markets. Others do not. What we know for sure is that if you don't do a number of things right when it comes to your web and computer services for your business, you will not get any traffic, and all the effort will be for naught....nothing....zero results......no sales.
So, realize that if web services and computer services were as simple and easy as some people say it is, everyone would be experiencing HUGE success with it. And they're not!
What to take note in terms of Web and Computer Services
I encourage those who are new to the whole web and computer services gig, to find some professional assistance. But BE CAREFUL with this. Just because you don't know what you're talking about in this area doesn't mean you need to leave your brain and good business sense at the door. Before spending a bunch of money on some guru, look at their work. Insist on seeing what they've done for others. It would be good and worthwhile to actually talk with a few of their satisfied clients. If they're unwilling to provide access to them, beware. Someone who is really talented in the web services arena usually WANTS you to talk to the people and businesses they've helped. If they don't, find someone else because chances are there's a problem.
Another thing to watch out for is deadlines or timeliness. Some of these people get bogged down or have taken on more than they can deliver. It's just like anything else. If you have a contract, consider partial payment with a balance due on delivery. Even penalties for not meeting the deadline...perhaps a bonus for coming in early if you're in an urgent situation and have the budget.
These are just a few thoughts that you might find helpful. Hope so
